About Anna Duvall....

Writing about yourself is hard, especially for the kind of person who likes to get hopped up on Sparks and yabber on for days about anything at all. I’ll try to be as honest/blunt as possible…

Although I look Russian and sound like I’m from the Midwest, I was born in Germany and grew up in Maui, Hawaii, hence the funny accent. On Maui I was lucky enough to have the best art teacher in the world, Mrs. Sato, and a lot of time on my hands to paint and draw since I was haole (white) and didn’t fit in at all.

After high school I wasted no time trading the islands for “the mainland”. I started a stint at California College of Art in SF which ended up being short since I quickly ran out of funds and patience for all the coffee guzzling, black lace wearing, trendy art school trust fund babies. Somehow I got the bright idea to go to the U of O in Eugene to have a more “well rounded” educational experience. This “experience” ended up including 4 years of working at dairy queen, outrageous amounts of drinking and debauchery, and some design classes on the side. Somewhere between the drinking sessions and receiving a BA in Multimedia design I realized I had a knack for painting pin up girls.

Now here I am in Portland, where everyone seems to move to after escaping Eugene, putting my college degree to good use as a full time cocktail waitress. I continue to paint scantily clad women in compromising situations so that one day I might actually have a job that has nothing to do with French fries.

PS. ALL PAINTINGS ARE ACRYLIC, GLITTER, CUBIC ZIRCONIA, AND SPRAYPAINT ON FOUND WOOD WITH A HIGH GLOSS FINISH.
